Hey everyone, Ive had this problem for a while and it never really worried me but its getting annoying now. Everytime i move my volume up and down on my speaks it crackles and makes a crackling noise. Do i need to update my audio driver? Ive never updated it not once. I have a soundMax intergrated Audio Card, and i also use a subwoofer.

Are you moving the volume up and down with an actual volume control on a speaker, or are you using some kind of software volume control?

The potentiometer (volume control) on an electronic device can get dust and junk on them over time. Sometimes you have to open up the box and spray the volume control with some WD40 or other similar product.

Also what kind of speakers do you have? A cheap pair will crack and distort alot of higher volume. While more expensive one like JLB's will sound equelly as good as you inscrese the volume.

My Dell came with harman/kardon speakers. When new they were great, but after time they started to crackle. Do what Ignacio said, and open them up and clean the dirt out of the volume control knob. Worked for me.
