I recently noticed that the sound coming out of my computer was much lower than usual. At first I assumed it was my volume levels, but even maxed out I could barely hear anything through my headphones. Then I thought it was my headphones, but when I swithched to my speakers they were just as low. So what is my problem and is there a way to fix it? My audio unit is the Karangen Audio Moduel.

Unplug and plug again your speakers, also make sure you dont have your mobile phone close by (that can really make some nasty things to your speakers and monitor)

Did your Sound drivers come with any sound programs? The one I have allows me to tweak the enviroment sound effects. Using the Hall, sounds different from the Auditorium effect. The Auditorium effect makes it echo, and sound quieter.

Ok, thank you all for your advice, but it was actually a hardware problem. Unfortunatly I have a new problem that is similar. I now have partial sound. I can hear certain things really well ie. background music and sounds in games or cerain sounds on my computer. But what I cant hear is any noise made by a character in game that I am controlling. I can hear a gun go of in a game, but when I fire the same gun in the same game the volume is so muted I can barely hear it at maximum volume. And yes I do have one of those audio programs, but it doesn' help because it uses sound I can hear so it list no problems.
