Can anyone suggest any Australian internet supplyers that arnt total ripoffs (eg. bigpond). Im going to need about 60Gig downloads, a shaped plan would be nice. All for under $110 Australian dollers. Oh and scince my familly is on a contract with bigpond, are we able to put bigpond on the lowest costing plan and use the other company as our main ISP? Thanks Kais246

Internode are the best by far, but they are slightly more expensive then Adam, who have slighty worse reliability. TPG are quite good, cheaper then Adam, but again even worse reliability.

Stay away from Dodo and Bigpond.

You have to break your bigpond contract, which will vary in price depending on how long it was for and how far into it you are. We have been with Bigpond for 1.5 years are are due to expire our contract at 2years, We will currently pay an early leaving fee of 60$

You can't have two providers running the same phone line. What you could do though, is consider a naked ADSL2+ Extreme service with Internode, and reduce your bigpond plan to whatever you think is best for your needs. Bare in mind a naked service is typically 10$ more exensive.

The service I suggest to do what you want, Bigpond on the cheap as backup, and having Internode as the main ISP, is in the attached image. Also found on the first supplied link

Internode's NakedADSL2+ Extreme Service's are here... Internode :: Residential :: Internet :: Home ADSL :: NakedExtreme :: Pricing

Thanksman but there might be a problem, we cant get ADSL2+ in our area (we can only get speeds upto 8Mbps). Will that just slow the ADSL2+ or stop it all togeather? Thanks Kais246

Whats your suburb?

But anyways, you can get ADSL2+ aslong as your within 6KM of the DSLAM. 6KM from the DSLAM is about 1-2MB connection, if your getting 8, i'd say your around 4KM from the DSLAM

And it depends what ISP you go with, Internode being a business first ISP have repeaters on their fiber and copper lines which helps to boost the signal strengh to those at the 6KM mark. Where as Adam and Bigpond don't, they don't believe repeaters are needed on their copper lines.

Besides, it won't matter for much longer, I just heard that Telstra is going to provision its DSLAMS and allow for the FTTN upgrade to take place. Within 5 years Australia in all major areas will be on FTTN structured networks, allowing for a massive jump in DSLAM to node distances and a greater internet throughput.

ADSL2+ Exchange Information Use that website, and navigate using the heatmaps to your house, Or just search using your phone number, turn on heatmaps, and it'll tell you what speed the nearest person to your place gets. I thought I was going to get 3MBPS here, however another house just up the road is achieve 8-10MBPS from the same DSLAM

Login with your account details, you parents may need to do it. Or have your parents ring up and cancel the contact, or agree on a lesser service. Its not hard to do, I just personally can't be stuffed moving from Bigpond to Internode, im a lazy person
