Hello, I have an AVI file that I would like to turn into a GIF file. I can also change the AVI file into a MPEG, so please post any links to anything that can turn something into a .GIF

try this program, you can open it up to 10 times before you gotta buy it: http://www.magicdvdripper.com/download/MagicDVDRipper41a.exe just ignore the name, it should work anyway :D

I downloaded it, but I have no idea how to use it. The output has NO .gif coverter, and it won't even reconize the .avi file to even upload it!

Hmm, if I'm going to download that big of a file, are you sure this will work?

I wouldn't imagine that WinDVD isn't all that big of a file to download.

You can do it with Adobe ImageReady (comes packaged with Photoshop) But it's not anywhere near free, so that's not of much help. Alright, I downloaded the demo, it does come with ImageReady as well, you have 30 days. So far, I found you can indeed convert an *.avi file to a *.gif file, but I'm still working on the speed factor. Here's what I just cropped and converted in about 3 mins. The only other problem I have is the ridiculous size factor as well. This short clip is 1.11 mb (which is actually failing to upload, it's normally about 2 seconds). I'll report back when I figure out how to make it smaller.

EDIT: Well, I was able to get this one down to 502kb. I set it to limit to every 4 frames, then speed of .1 sec for each frame.. jesushchrist1mu7.gif It'll take some tweaking with, but I think I can get the filesize and playspeed down correctly
