I've noticed that my new computer has started to play games really bad. When I start a game it runs good for a while then it all goes to heck and starts showing noticable lagg specificaly on Halo but I have noticed it on others such as Need for speed underground 2. concidering that my comp is a new Inspiron XPS Gen 1 with most (if not all) of the bells and whistles I find this disturbing. So... What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it? thanks in advance. -TimeLapse-

Overheating?? Do you leave your computer on for long periods of time before your gaming sessions... or do you live in texas or something and are cooling your laptop with 90 degree air?
no not is Texas... I don't think its overheating. I went in to play my games when I first turned the comp on.

hmmm, someone else was also experiencing similar problems, it was overheating for them. Have you got your latest display drivers. Btw, what are the specs?
22nd December 2003
yup, they had pentium M which cut when the heat starts sawing so the CPU is only using a little bit of the speed it can so it doesnt cut out because of heat so games lag
Well I have a pentium 4 what specs do you guys need to help me out here?
A psychedelic experience.

What are Omega Drivers?
What does the Fox say?

The Omega Drivers are the nVidia.com drivers, but with tweaks to make them run faster, and look better at the same time. They also have the nVidia overclocking utility "CoolBits" enabled by default (it comes with the nVidia drivers).
They may not help. PC slowdown is caused by an increasingly large number of problems. Lately its usually Viruses, Trojans, Worms, Hackers, Ad Ware, or Spyware, etc.
Make sure you have one, or more of these anti-virus apps installed. Norton, Trend Micro PC-cillian, Grisoft AVG, or Bit Defender.
You should have all of these. Spybot Search and Destroy and Lavasoft's Ad Aware SE, or Giant's Anti-Spyware/Adware. SpywareBlaster. Zone Alarm Firewall., Hijack this, Firefox 1.01 or Opera 7.x (DON'T use IE again, unless needed).
Other causes are,... Slow hard drives, FULL hard drives, dying hard drives. Bad RAM, unseated RAM, lack of enough RAM. Too much stuff next to the clock (Just the firewall, anti-virus, and the Sound should be there.) Norton Anti-Virus Too many USB devices Bad Processor, Overheating processor, a processor that has been burned from overheating. A bad Power Suppyl, a Dying Power Supply, too little power. Drive Fragmentation, files getting too scattered, corrupt file systems. Poorly optimized Drivers. And so on, and so on....................
