I recently downloaded some stuff for Style XP. Unknowingly one of these downloads had some major spyware/adaware tagged on. Its called WebHancer, a program that takes IE information and sends it for research. Ontop of this I have a whole slew of various AF221394uQh2.XEGH type programs deep in my /C, if you get what I mean. I remove them, they come back, I remove them, they come back. I can't seem to shake them. I have tried Adaware, which grabbed some of it, virus scan, which removed some of it, and manual deleting and online help. Still it all comes back. To list, I have this questionable material that keeps popping back. Ontop of all that junk that came with the WebHancer, which doesn't go away, I have: Stub_113_4_0_4_0 Installer drsmartload1 and ....load46a WHCC2
all listed on my C Drive. My virus scan removal takes them away the first time but when I restart they all pop back.
So any idea's? I also had a trojan that came with it but it thankfully got deleted and stayed that way.
PLEASE HELP, I'd like to get this junk off my computer soon.
Try starting in safe mode and do it all.
How do I go about doing that?
Edit: also, I restarted without my internet connection done up, because it seemed a had an uploader program that kept putting the 500KB or so of spyware on my computer. I just finished a virus scan that got rid of the remaining stuff and I haven't seen one of those questionable files since. I put some junk in quarentine that looked strange as well, so I'll see how it goes on the next startup. All the spyware seems to come back on the restart, so I'm hoping I killed everything.
To get into Safemode just keep pressing F8 when you restart the computer.
lol yeah i figured that, but what will that do? I haven't had any stability problems concerning the spyware, which btw I think is gone. would safe mode really do anything that I could not do normally?
It would stop some sneaky things from opening up.
well virus scan caught and deleted everything and an adaware scan showed nothing, so I think I'm in the clear.
You could always format... hehe... always the best solution but most costly!
wow lucky you. i've been in your situtation before but they were so serious that i had to format my computer. hehe be more cautious next time. im now careful, reeeal careful.
