Since I'm not quite ready [financially] to make the jump to SLI and PCI-E, I'm looking for the best AGP card to go with my new mobo and cpu. I have a Radeon XT 9800 Pro 256 mb card, but are there better options? How much better would an GeForce 6800 [or OC/U] be? Thank you.
The best AGP video card u can get right now is the X850XT PE. If u can afford it... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121541 Right now there outta stock, but heres another
X800 XT (what i currently own) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102492

Yep go for the ATI if you can.
6800GT is still an awesome card, but is beaten by X800XT.
Did you just buy this Motherboard?
You should have got PCI-e. AGP is dying, and to be honest, i don't think you should buy a top of the line AGP card because they cost more than PCI-e and you can get much more powerful cards for PCI-e. Your choice though.
I would get the ATI fo shiz.
I know. But like I SAID, I don't have the capital ATM to do it. If I did, I would.

But he would have to get a new CPU as well as GPU :)
No, not CPU, unless it was a different socket motherboard.
hmm.. if your on a budget i guess a 6600 GT will do you good. or maybe a 6800 if you want to spend a little bit more of money.
Best AGP cards are ATi (X800XT or X850XT). But yeah, go PCI-E if you can.
Personally I prefer Nvidia to ATI, but then I never used an ATI card, so I dont know. My advice to you is, buy a PCI-e card. I would suggest you go for 7800, but since that might be too expensive, go for 6600GT (At least) or a 6800. I believe they cost over $250.
And I would advice you not to buy Overclocked cards. I had a 5500OC earlier and it had a lot of problems. I have been told that the 6800OC version to is having problems. That extra 20MHz speed is not worth the probelms. So go for a standard version or a GT version.
