Yeah I worked in food retail too, the low, gritty, bottom end of it, grocery. I started as bagger back when glass pop bottles were collected and recycled, there were no plastic bags, and everything was marked for price vs bar coded.

In a yr and a half I worked my way up to freight manager, those on my crew had seniority over me. They liked to keep us to a skeleton crew, even during holidays. At my peak I'd be stocking 60 cases an hr, and I worked the cereal/pet food isle, where you had to puzzle fit everything in. I often envied friends of mine working at Safeway, whom only required their freight crew stock 35 cases an hr.

The US is probably a much better dumping ground for deactivated/discontinued items than the UK. So many places to get rid of unwanted product. I don't like how it's made our country a disposable society though, where you toss vs use things until they're not usable anymore.

You should see what kind of goods can be found in the dumpsters of even poor neighborhoods in my town's near-downtown areas. Lots of pretty good electronics, music, movies, etc, abandoned when people suddenly move or get evicted for one reason or another.

Don't even have baggers. Supermarkets tend to have people around that can help out customers that need/want it, in a shop the size of mine it's more a case of the person serving helps the customer out if needed. The majority of customers pack their own bags, those that don't tend to be ones that struggle (elderly, disabled, pregnant women etc) and in those cases anyone worth anything in their job will do it for them without being asked.

In my case it's a (fairly large, for the UK) convenience store, so even though we put through 1,500 sales a day you get to know the regulars and with a few years experience behind you, you become a pretty good judge of who needs help with what just by looking at them.

Of course the help that a few of them need involves my foot up their arse on their way out of the door (not literally), but as you already said that's retail for you...

>Omen<;5042425The original is, what you're talking about is the new DeathAdder 3500 upgraded version of the old DeathAdder. It's not even the same dimensions and of course has a different SKU.

How about the fact that they had both versions of the deathadder in store, which was even more stupid about it. Remove it from their system when it was still on the shelves? Uh, okay.

You should send your Girlfriend back in to Best Buy to buy the Mouse & then return the defective one for you.

Having a receipt is required by almost all stores for getting a refund of exchange, i'm not surprised that they didn't let you do it without one.

Kow, I'm not here to unconditionally defend Best Buy, just to say that this all could have been avoided had you used some common sense and known a few basic things about how high volume retail stores operate in the US. If the discontinued mouse was still on the sales shelf, that's their bad, esp if it had a price and/or shelf tag on it.

I really don't think that warrants expecting them to break policy on returns, refunds, exchanges or discontinued stock though, and certainly not enough to warrant threats and repeatedly shouting obscenities at them if they refuse.

For the most part, consumers get more from big stores like Best Buy than they would other stores policy wise, so I don't think it's asking a lot of them to absorb a few of their small mistakes, but I really don't think refusing what you asked was one of them.

It works. I've had my girlfriend do it before when she bought me a fried video card for Christmas. I had it in my possession for about a week while I fiddle fucked around with it trying to figure out what the hell was going on. After calling them to see if they'd accept it, and them saying no, I told my girlfriend to take it back (with the receipt of course) and poof...got a new card the same day.

So...that little piece of paper is important. Keep it until Best Buy, or whatever company you buy from doesn't cover it/won't accept a return. That's what I do. I even do that with video games.

Yeah...they did their jobs. But I do agree with you. The "blacklisting" ordeal, come on. I can understand if they got the cops or security to ask you, or make you, leave, but blacklisting you? Tell them to pack sand up their ass. You can get the same shit, for a lower price at different places.

And Razer mice...ftw!!! Still rockin' my classic Diamondback Chameleon. I think it's like 3 years...four years old maybe. I think three...and still kickin' ass. Although the left mouse button is starting to act up.
