I am interested in upgrading my video card. I am having a hard time deciding what to upgrade to. I currently have an ATI 9000 128 Radeon. I have been very happy with it but I've found that it isn't as efficient running newer mods. I'd like to go with something running 256mb. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am currently running XP, 1.5GB memory, 80GB HD, with an AMD 2600 and a SOYO Dragon Ultra MB. Thanks for the assistance!! Chris:smokin:

I'm seeing more and more people using this card:uhm:. I have one an I'm getting a better one in a month or so. Well how much do you want to spend:naughty:? low end: 9550 256mb $83 Middle: 9800 256mb $175 high end: X800XT 256mb $455 Over kill: X800XT PE 256mb $700(you would have to get a PCI-e motherboad to run this)

Yes the ATI X800XT PE is the best one out there at the minute. If your budget is unlimited, you can even buy two GeForce 6 series cards and connect them using the latest nForce software so you effectively have 512Mb of Graphic Memory. That would cost at least £600 though and you would need a motherboard with two free PCI-Express slots open next to each other. Also a big power supply.

If you are looking for a budget choice though I would go for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. It can rival an X800 3DMark03-wise only lacking in frame rate. It is about £100 on the net.

Oh its Gordon from school. I better tell him not to spam. I better tell myself not to spam. EDIT: To de-classify this message as spam, here is some info. The Radeon 9800 is available at 256Mb or 128Mb. The larger one is more expensive obviously.

Nvidia is much better. Go to http://www.pricewatch.com/ And click on Cards --> Video and buy one like GeForce FX 5700 128MB which is only $77 or something like that. Don't buy a slow video card like GeForce FX 5200 with 256MB of video ram, the 256MB will give a postive effect when you have a fast video card like the Geforce FX 5900 or even more but it is expensive.

It also depends on your pc as if it is an old one and not being AMD 64 bit then don't buy something better than FX 5700.
