I am trying to decide which agp card to get and am down to these 2: BFG 6800GT OC or ATI X850XT PE. Anybody got one of these cards or any opinions? I keep reading that the ATI doesnt support sm 3.0, and the 6800 does. How big of a difference will this make? Currently I play mostly Far Cry, and just got GTA San Andreas. I want this card to last at least the next year until I upgrade my whole system. Any help is appreciated. Mark:beer:
Well what is the rest of your computer? if your computer is not that fast, don't even think about either of them, you would be bottlenecked. The x850xt is obvously faster. I have a BFG 6800gt which is good but you need at lest 1gb of ram and 3ghz or +3000 processor to get what it has. Why not get a 6600gt and wait till you updrade your whole system and get either and 8 series card from nivda or an X9 series from ATi.
Thats exactly what I have: 1 gig of ram and 3000+ processor.
Then you would be good with either then, do you have PCI-express or an AGP motherboard? The 6800gt is cheaper than the X850xt, its up to personal preferecne though.
My motherboard is AGP I'm just trying to get another year or so of gaming out of it:beer:
Get the X850XT... it is really a nice card, very fast! Its the fastest AGP card ever made and is quite reliable to boot.

The question is does he want to spend $380 on an X850xt or $300 on a 6800gt?
Well, the 6800GT he asked about is the BFG 6800GToc and that card in particulat IS just about the same price as a good deal on a X850XT... which can be had for $380 in AGP

I got mine for $300(was like $290 without shipping) Look on e-bay and get some good deals. I don't want this guy to shell out a ton of cash if he only wants it for a year:lookaround:. A 6600gt would be a better choice if you want it for a year unless you like 1600x1200 with all the goodies...
Trust me, I'm a Doctor

With either of those cards, you will be able to get alot more than a year of gaming out of them. I personally would get the 6800GT if your planning to upgrade next year anyways, it will probably save you some money. or just do like pethe said and get a 6600GT instead. it all depends on how much money you want to spend when you know you will be replacing it all next year anyways. either way it will be good till next year easily.
