So I bought a blu-ray player today. The bluray player can up-convert DVD's, and I have it connected to my Phillips HDTV(720p) though component video cables(since LG was too cheap to give me an HDMI cable)
It plays blu-rays just fine, but it cannot play a DVD in any other format but 4:3. I am stuck with big black bars on the side of my TV and the video still looks like crap. I have seen other blu-ray players hooked up to HDTV's and DVD's look great on them.
So my question is, what gives?
I think there is a setting on the TV for changing the aspect ratio...I have a Phillips hd tv & it is usually changed using my tv, not Bluray player, But I have a PS3.
