ok, so my bro got me a bluetooth usb dongle for christmas, and i just got it today, so i installed the drivers/software from the cd that came with it, but now, i plug it into my comp and right click on the icon the drivers made in the task bar by the clock, and i have 2 options, one is "Start Using Bluetooth" and i get this error when i click it
(its not a mac, its Windows XP Home with SP2, but i have stylexp to make it look like a mac)
so i click ok and it comes up witha a browse window with "liscense" typed in the file name box. i dont know where this "liscense" is supposed to be, but when i click cancel it comes up ith another error that says "Bluetooth Software liscense file not found. [2]" and it only has an ok button. when i press that, it goes away and i'm back to square one....
so i click the second option on the icon, which is "Bluetooth Device Not Found." i then get this error
i press ok, and its back to square one again...
but the weird this is that my palm pilot (which has bluetooth v1.1 and thats what the dongle is compliant with) can see it.... but i cant connect to it... can anyone help?
i had the same message about the licence but the only way i found around that was to uninstall the software, as for it not being 'found' have you looked in device manager and checked that it is enabled?
Thinking about it.
already checked, it is enabled, i'm uninstalling the software now
Did you read all the instructions? You probably have to install some DRM license thingy with the drivers or something stupid like that. Yay Windows and proprietary shit. "It's for your protection!" No, it's not. It's to protect their profits... charge you if you want to install software, charge you if you want to upgrade hardware, charge you if you want to change settings, charge you if you want to take a dump on Wednesdays... oh ;) Hehe. Sorry, rant mode off... I'm a bit of an OSS zealot :)
no instructions came with it, it was just the packaging, the dongle, the cd, and a cardboard insert with some crappy background to go behind the plastic so it wasn't all grey behing the dongle.
On another vBulletin site someone had a similiar problem, turns out it was because the Dongle wasn't in good. USB Dongle Trouble
What Bluetooth dongle is it? "Belkin (Widcomm) Bluetooth USB Adapter Dongle" - from above page.?
It would help to determine what the problem is.
