Hey Lads,

On my route of "Uber Home Thearter PC" Which Im trying to make a Full HD getup, I'm pricing BluRay burners and readers... I can get one through work spec'd below, for $272 AUD Now, that to me, Is well worth the money. Yeah its not great burn speeds, but as far as I know, top of the line at the moment burn speed.

Given I use my PC for the following... Gaming Movies TV Music

And that I watch ALOT of TV and Movies on it (Like, A Movie a Day, and TV at night) Would you think the price is worth it?

LG 6xBD-R/2xBD-RE/3xHD-DVD Int

• Max. 6x BD-R Write Speed • Max. 16x DVD±R Write Speed • 6x BD-R/2x BD-RE Read Compatible • 3x HD DVD-ROM Read Compatible • Serial ATA Interface • LightScribe • 4MB BD & 2MB DVD/CD Buffer Under-run Prevention Function

$272 Ex

+ 10% GST (Or Vat for others)

Which comes to $299 total... Keep in mind, currently I have no interest in burning to BluRay, so buying the media I won't be doing lol

Honestly if you just have to have Blu-Ray I'd get a BD-ROM drive and then get a BD-RW drive when prices fall. If you're not going to burn to Blu-Ray at the moment then there's no point paying extra for the burner while prices are so high.

Here I can get a BD-ROM for £75, but a BD-RW costs in the region of £150-£200. Obviously prices differ between countries, but if you can get a BD-ROM for half the price of that BD-R surely it would be the better option?

Then you can put the saved money aside for a monitor or TV that displays 1080p properly. :p

I dunno, I've really not been impressed with the plasmas I've seen, especially not the small ones and at $900 I can't see it being good to be honest. You might just end up with the same problem but on a larger screen.

Mmm, I dunno... I mean a good Plasma 42" here can be as low as 1.5K, and I'm talking the really high quality samsungs. This one I saw was playing a BluRay video as they all seem to be doing at the moment, and it was....Really, Really clear looking.

Must be said that I don't like plasmas all that much, really do prefer LCDs.

I rather LCDs for their price and not being burnt in so easily. But I rather Plasma for their Color Depth, clarity, and speed over LCDs... I notice to much ghosting on all LCDs I use, Be it watching a movie, playing a game, anything... Every LCD just seems to be a trail behind anything and everything moving... Even the 2MS ones
