Hi does anybody know how to know how you can tell how much kb/mb you are using when playing games online such as Guild Wars and battlefield 2 and stuff because my internet provider BT is giving us warnings saying you have used 20Gb out of the 2Gb usage. So i need to know how much kb/mb the games are using up per hour or so.
I have a hard time believeing that a video game would use up 20 gigs.
I'd run some spyware scans if I was you.
Or is it possible that someone else might be using your wireless connection (if you have one)?
Yep i have a wireless connection, i would i check if ppl are using it and how to stop them
Well, if you use STEAM then that's plausible to an extent - but for 20 gigs you'd have to have downloaded the entire Source collection and quite possibly the original Half-Life pack as well. (I'm using the amount of games as an estimate, since I have the above packs and my STEAM folder is well over 20 gigs in size.)
If not then it could possibly be a trojan or worm eating away at your bandwidth. Make sure to do regular AV scans.
Or, as marvinmatthew said, it could just be a housemate being a little over-zealous with their downloads.
well i have spy ware on my computer when ever i open My computer and go into so folders, i've got winfizer and sysprotect because my norton had popped up and i've unistalled sysprotect but it still comes back and i don't know how to get rid of that, i've tried ad-aware and numerous spyware programs and still i can't get rid of them, any suggestions on any good programs
WTF broadband usage limets? who is your provider and what kind of conection do you have?
2mbps BT broadband i really need help with the question i asked
FN_lewrbm69WTF broadband usage limets? who is your provider and what kind of conection do you have?
Don't matter, almost all of them in the UK have it. Although only the cheapest packages have stupidly low limits like 2gb. I personally get 75gb. My ISP does do unrestricted packages (at least on the surface, god knows what the ToS say if you dig deeper) but ironically they're for the slower connections, if you have their fastest (10mb) like I have they only give you 75gb...meh.
Playing games uses sod all. But as Rookie said, if you start downloading large files like patches, mods and full games will eat 2gb very quickly. And downloading patches, mods etc is all part of the PC gaming 'experience'; and if you download a full patch for BF2 then that's about half a gig gone straight away.
Okay but i need to get rid of that spyware on my computer any ideas for that P.S. my brother watches alot of vids on the web could that be doing it
Well you could re-install your Operating System.
And for your internet provider, I suggest Blueyonder, there is no download limit for me and I have an 8M/bit connection. (I download GB's of information daily.)
