recently i've been getting a BSoD, with a message KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR. after restarting, i am taken to BIOS where my CPU speed is lowered to 1110 MHz.

what could be causing it?

Can you post system spces? What speed bus is the CPU supposed to run at?

First thing is use a friends PC and d/l memtest x86 and put it on a bootable disc.

Run a memtest and let it run overnight if possible.

the other thing I would run is d/l IBM hd test and put it on a bootable disc and run it but make sure to run the advanced test. The quick test has often said something was good and it would then fail the advanced test.

How old is the system? Is heat sink on CPU clogged? are all fans spinning normally?

I've never seen a bsod take you to a bios page. That error is an OS error and should have absolutely nothing to do with your system settings.

Then you find your problem even if I never think an hdd error could cause BSOD

i found a support page on microsoft.com that says that such error can occur if kernel data can not be loaded correctly from hard drive. since kernel data is not loaded properly a system error occurs.
