Ok so I've decided to get a new pc, well just some new parts. I need a motherboard, processor, graphics card and memory.

I've decided on the AMD Athlon 64 AM2 3000+ processor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustratingReview.asp?Item=N82E16819103639

Now what I need help with is getting a motherboard AM2 and PCI Express friendly. A PCI Express Nvidia card and some memory.

EDIT: Money provided 400 euros.

Thanks in advance :beer:.

I'll give it a shot, but it would help to know where you're located and which sites will ship to there.

These are some euro pc retail sites I've mined from another forum:

scan.co.uk overclockers.co.uk overclock.co.uk ebuyer.co.uk dabs.com savastore.com microdirect.co.uk novatech.co.uk yoyotech.co.uk tekheads.co.uk savastore.com aria.co.uk komplett.ie

Are any of ^these preferred for your location?

For a frame of reference, at the current exchange rate, €400 = $505 or £269. The cpu you've chosen is coming out of this money as well, correct?

I'll post back with something soon...

cpu - AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.6GHz Socket AM2, 256KB, BOXED w/fan €49.95

board - MSI K9N NEO-F, nForce 550, Socket-AM2, SATAII, DDR2, GbLAN, ATX, PCI-Ex16 €77.00

ram - Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 1024MB Kit w/two matched €149.00

gpu - Gainward GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3, PCI-Express €167.00

Total = €443 + shipping

That seems a little spendy for those parts, I'll try scan.co.uk...

cpu - AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.6GHz Socket AM2, 256KB, BOXED w/fan £48.16 Inc VAT

board - MSI K9N NEO-F, nForce 550, Socket-AM2, SATAII, DDR2, GbLAN, ATX, PCI-Ex16 £49.97 Inc VAT

ram - Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 1024MB Kit w/two matched £85.23 Inc VAT

gpu - Leadtek GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3, PCI-Express £99.28 Inc VAT

Total = £282.64 Inc VAT (€419.58)

That's a little better, but the cpu seems overpriced. The ram was overpriced at the site in the post above. Perhaps use multiple vendors?

Scan is probably your best choice if you're in the UK. If you're not, I'd suggest looking somewhere else.

Oblivious, it may seem overpriced to you but it's pretty much the norm. Tech is generally more expensive here. You think it looks bad now? Factor in the £ to $US exchange rate and in terms of $US the price almost doubles. :p

I just noticed I used the wrong processor anyways. Those are Semprons and not Athlons. oops :lookaround:

Don't worry about it, however i don't live in the UK, I live in Serbia so finding sites that ship here might be a little hard.

ouch a 1.8ghz, pcie, you better put 1gb ddr400 in it to make up for the chip. and a 7600gt to take the fx stress of the CPU

It's DDR2 memory. It doesn't operate at 400MHz, incase you didn't read.
