Hey,

Every minute or two my computer completely stops / gets very chopping for a few seconds and this is very annoying when playing games. I've ran anti spyware, anti virus, de-fragged the computer but still it persists. Any ideas on whats causing it?

What games are you playing when this happens? Are you playing online?

Online and offline. Even when just browsing the net this happens.

it could be processes running in the background calling upon your processors power.

take a screeny of your processes or just watch them for a few minutes and see what is using CPU power.

I've done that. When these bursts happen the CPU usage goes to 100% but i have no other processes.

alright, um, give us the specs of your system, and a full spec of your PSU, and processor. chipset type too. without this there isnt much we can do other than speculate.

The specs have nothing to do with it. I've had the same stuff in it for almost 18 months and its only started in the past week.

Does your HD show any activity during the lag?
