deathwarderdont invest in a very expensive dual core setup, as quad cores are coming in 08 I think

AMD is hoping to launch a Quad-core processor in '07.

With AMD planning to launch a Quad-core chip in '07 I wouldn't be surprised to see an Oct-core system by mid to late '08.

Its no good keep waiting for the 'next big thing' cos you will be waiting forever as once you get one big thing out of the way another will come along. Treat yourself now and when you upgrade nexttime you can get the next big thing with bells and whistles then.

And please, for the love of God dont buy an FX, fast as they are the extra 2-3 FPS in games does not justify a massive price hike.

1h 08. That is 2 years away. There is no point waiting that long.

Conroe comes out in 3 months. That is something worth waiting for.

7.0ghz on the PD was done on a high binned Extreme edition using LN2 for cooling. That shouldn't factor into your buying desicion.

If you must buy the system now then get the PD it is a very capable cpu and wil have no problems pushing your games. I however think that you should wait for Core Duo 2 (Conroe) which comes out in August and brings a 20% performance improvement over A64's.

nope, extremely common and annoying misconception, the number of bits is just how large a number can be used in the registers in the cpu, if you have 64bit you can handle numbers up to 2^64 without using extra ram, but aside from that there is no difference
