The most common type of camcorder on the market today is a 'DV' camcorder. The DV- stands for Digital Video. IT uses a very small tape (a tape that is about 70% the size of a cassette tape). Most all DV camcorders have a firewire port on them that will allow you to directly connect the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer. A DV camcorder is probably the way for you to go.

EDIT- F***ing post jump.

I'm looking at buying a digital Camcorder (Probably off Ebay) and I was curious to know, what are the kinds that I can just record and then plug into my PC and take them right off the camcorder to the PC? I really know nothing about Digital Camcorders so any other advice about format type or a particular brand or model would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
