~Merrick;4560514a bin file is an image file G.

You have to mount it to a virtual drive.

Huh I doubt it. It's has to be a firmware... not a CD image but a programmable chip's memory image, to be loaded with a dedicated program to flash the drive (just like when you flash your motherboard's BIOS, it's not an ISO ... )

Oblivious

I tawt I taw a puddy tat...

||G||;4560559I tried to mount it with a IDE virtual drive but then it says application cannot be found. I also tried with a SCSI drive but it cannot be opened.

Try Daemon Tools to open it.

On a side note, I've had issues with certain brands of media that wouldn't work in some Optical Drives. I think Memorex was the brand of media I had the most issues with. On the same system, one drive could read the discs, the other could not. This may be what you are running into.

The manufacturer (so in your case, Sony or NEC) should provide it somewhere on his website. Just like Samsung or Pioneer does for their own optical disc drives firmware updates (to take examples I've tested already :p )
