I have a problem with my speaker setup. I have a sound blaster live 5.1 card. Prolly not the best card. But everything was fine until there was a load screech from my speakers. I think it was feedback from my microphone.
Now the center speaker will not work at all. It does however work when you run the test. Also when i switch the speakers around on the subwoofer they all work except the center channel. Is this somehow setup related or the sound card has died,or speakers.
I need to fix it before half life 2 get's here :)
Thank you for your help!
Um, well Does your middle speaker sound fuzzy when you do the test. If so what do you test with?

I start the test and a women's voice say front left,center,front right,rear left,rear right.
It's not fuzy at all i can hear it really good on the test but as soon as i exit it dosen't work.
It is possible that you may have blown a speaker but it workis in the test. I don't know...
Go into control panel, then sound and audio devices. Go to the bottom under speaker options and click advanced. See what that is set to. It might be set to Surround which is a 4 speaker set up. You need to set it to 5.1.

I'll put my solution in for future referances for people who come across this problem.
You have to install the play center when you install drivers for sound blaster card. In the small view there will be an arrow that points to the right. Click it and in the bottom corner there will an option called cmss click it and enable it. Now your ready to go! This has to be done before you will get center speaker function.:nodding: Hope this helps someone out,it sure had be beaten my head agianst the wall!:banghead: Thanx google!
