IBuyPower Computer :: Gamer Paladin F875 I want feedback :) I am thinking of getting this in the ... near future.
That's a computer, not a CPU.
@ Archaon: indeed. LOL
1. That in fact, IS a computer, not a CPU ;) 2. Get the 920. The 940 is a waste. 3. Don't get value RAM. 4. Unless you like your games choppy, I wouldn't get a 295. 5. Get something better than a POS keyboard/mouse.
As everyone else is saying, don't bother with the i7 950. Just get the 920 and a good cooler, and overclock it if you really must, although it's way more than competent for just about anything at stock speed.
From everything I've read, the GTX 295 is not worth the price; you'd be better off with a pair of GTX 285's in SLI if you really need dual GPU's, although I imagine a single 285 should be more than sufficient. *Waits for the inevitable ATi shitstorm*
And as Daedalus says, get a good kb/mouse. They have good prices on the Logitech G15 and G9, which I recommend.
Good stuff, but yeah a 285 would be better, especially in SLi.

Get a ATI 4870 x 2. Let the shitstorm commence =p
Hmm... you now this means WAR!!!!! :Puzzled: :spartan:

I'm still satisfied with my Quad Core Extreme. Haven't made the leap into the DDR3 realm yet, but atleast I'm running tri-sli. Hell, the shittiest computer in my house runs a 3.0GHz P4HT, w/ 2GB of RAM and a 7600GS. And it easily runs EVE-Online at 40+ FPS with what I consider medium high settings. Combine that with a good, solid, no frills internet connection, and fleet warfare = win. Anywho, whatever kind of video games you play, buy stuff one or two notches up from what it needs. Me, I instaupgraded from the crappy desktop listed above to a 8GB, tri-sli'd, Quad Core monster. Over clock the CPU from it's stock speed to 4.5GHz and liquid cool it. Hehehe...epic win me thinks.

Well, kow hasn't posted here... yet. =p
I wasn't talking power so much as microstuttering, the 295 is awful for it. Normal SLI suffers from it also obviously, but for some odd reason the 295 seems to be worse.
To the OP: I'd price whatever you want to get on Newegg and see if you can build it yourself. Aside from all the usual advantages (which have been listed many times before, and so will not be listed again by me), it's especially good in your case. I'd recommend getting a 9800GT or something until the 300/5800 series cards come out around Christmas. You could get the power of Tri-SLI GTX 280 in ONE card.
+1 on waiting. Next gen cards are supposed to be a nice step-up from the current gen. 4870x2 power on one die? Score. Or, if you're getting it right now. 2x 4890s for $100 LESS than a 295? Yes please. use that money to buy a mouse off of newegg since the keyboard doesn't make as big of a deal as a quality mouse does. But then again, it all depends on the player and what they prefer (whatever fits in your hand the best is the mouse to get since they're pretty much all the same). You can also use the saved money from the 920/cheaper video cards to get a GOOD sound card/ good headset or speakers.
