foodmaniac2003;3531521 I don't want him to know ive been on these forums :)

Of cooouuurse, that's the reason! I believe you!

Thousands wouldn't ;).

Anyway, if you've gone through the Tools > Clear Private Data route successfully, you shouldn't have any problems. At any rate I doubt your oppressive totalitarian father actually has such a program, he's probably just trying to scare you into cleaning up your act.

Me too.

Anyway, In Firefox the best way to hide that your deliberately removing your history is to go to Tools->Options, select the privacy tab and tick the checkbox marked "always clear my private data when I exit firefox". If you select what you want to delete in the settings (like EVERYTHING) then you won't ever have a history and you can fain complete ignorance and suggest its a defualt setting if anybody discovers.

This way you NEVER have a history, so you don't suddenly have only two days worth of history. That would suggest something dodgy to me if I were looking at your computer, no history at all is better than a short history for the past few days.

If your after completely removing all history of everything you have ever been doing (including on IE) then goto the windows folder, there are subfolders for cookies and one for temp internet files, Delete the contents.

Also, if you are seeking to totally remove your MSIE history then do be aware that there is a hidden cache folder contained within the temp internet file folder called "content.ie5". This folder does not appear on explorer, but if you bring up the URL window and add "/content.ie5" then you will get access to it.

This folder is Internet Explorers hidden cache. Some programs and most semi competent IT people will know it exists, and it remains even when you instruct IE to remove your history and cache.

To be honest though, there are a heck of a lot of other folders as well, if your really wanting to get rid of everything you did under IE then I would recommend you get a program to do it.

If you just clear the cache and such, it won't delete it, just remove it from index.

Get a file shredder and do it yourself.

Ah...The whole "Stop my Father from finding out the porn sites ive been on" ;) There is no one single way of removing it completley, Cos when you delete something. It never is properly deleted. You just delete the reference for it, Its still sitting there...waiting to be found. If your dads any good at computers, he'll know that there are other ways of finding out your internet visted sites even if you do clear history and the cache...
