And I hear the 9800 X2 is going to come out before summer. The 8800 GTS 512 mb is better than the GTX or Ultra right now though, but the X2 will pwn the 512 by quite a margin, those figures range from 30%-50% better.

The Intel E8xxx series was supposed to come out January 20th, but I've yet to see them anywhere. 45nm Dual Cores "Wolfdale" Core; also supposedly the same prices as the higher end of the E6xxx series with more performance.

^ Since it's not that fast or the FSB isn't crazy fast either, is the series going for low-cost and low power-consumption as it's selling points?

I always get confused when new hardware comes out and it isn't better then the previously-released products...

It looks like the 6MB L2, 1333Mhz FSB, and the 45nm die which should use less power and run cooler are going to be its strong points.

Considering that that processor has the exact same specs as the E6750 except for different base architecture; that's not a "slow" processor by any means. And that is actually the fastest desktop FSB speed for Intel Processors; and the core speed is only 440MHz slower than the fastest Core 2 Duo as well.

The reason it is priced so low is because the 45nm production allows for more cache in a smaller space and lowered heat production which means that Intel can produce these chips relatively inexpensively when compared to the 65nm Core architecture - more on a single sheet.

Performance wise, the E8200 sits between the E6750 and the E6850.

I myself will wait for the Nehalem 45nm integrated quads with mulitlevel shared cache, built in memory controller, Quick Path interconnects, and simultaneous two thread per core data processing. Should be a screamer on threaded games for some time to come. BTW, what's up with Intel jumping from a 6000 series CPU to an 8000 series? Do they have a phobia about odd numbers? I thought 7 was supposed to be a lucky number. LOL
