When I use my cd drives my computer shuts down which is weird because my processor is 2.68ghz and I have a gig of memory. Any ideas why it would do that?

If I use Alchohal 120% to mount the cd image do you think I would be able to run it that way w/o problems?

I'm going to assume you would need to insert your purchased cd(s) to make those cd images in the first place, so it would seem you would be back at square one since your cd drive is acting up. I sense a thread closure for even mentioning disc images though.

Why would using your cd drives be shutting down your pc? PSU problem, perhaps?

And what are you doing when it happens, just reading a cd or trying to burn one?

Test the drive first. Put in another rig, and check a known good drive in your rig. Could potentially be the interface, also.
