It seems nothing will run on my computer, but the internet, and WMP. I cant seem to uninstall anything, or open up any program, + my limewire wont let me access, due to an old JAVA enviorment, even though I have the latest version.....Is my computer f*cked, and I should get a new one? Its a Dell 4600, Intell Pentium 4 processor 2.4 GHz, 2.39GHz, 256 mb of RAM.....I also have an NVidia GeForce4 MX 440 w/ AGP8X Should I just go ahead and buy a new computer, or build one......which one is cheaper....Is my 3-4 year old computer salvagable?
You could try to run the installer cleaner for windows. It is from the microsoft website. If you do a search there you will find it. It will give you a list of all programs that were installed with the windows installer and that might be giving you a problem. I had similar problems when I upgraded my hard drive and transfered the contents of my old drive to it. The other thing you could try is to run adaware. It will search your system for spyware and anything that might be causing it to act funny. It won't pick up viruses, but it will find almost everything else. If you decide you just want to start fresh, there are pluses to building your own system and to just buying a pre-built system. If you build your own, you can pick and choose exactly what you want. If you get a prebuilt system, everything is put together for you and you normally have a backup disk supplied with it. The best thing to do is shop around the computer stores in your area and try to find one you like, with good prices. If you are an avid gamer, you will want around 1Gb of RAM at least. Good luck.
What Operating System are you running and are you keeping up on any critical updates? Do you have high-speed internet and are you experiencing any popups or anything unusual on your web browser?
I think u should go out and spend £500 on a new custom made one and then put it all together! thats what I did and me pc is great, I dont meen to be rude but your specs suck!
- Virus/Malware Scan
- Spyware Scan
Do those, and report back.
If you do what rookie said then you can just reformat and start all over again. No need to get a new computer.

Quite. Format and reinstall Windows.
