I was cleaning inside my computer, dusting off the dust and cleaning the fan and such. Everything was unplugged before I attempted to clean it. After cleaning it, the power doesnt turn on. Of course its in Power Save mode but its been almost 24 hours without turning it on. I was wondering how long does it take for the computer to awake out of its Power Save mode?
Should be able to turn on at any time, the "Power Save" Mode just turns off parts of the computer when not in use (Monitor, hard disks), so as to conserve power. It does not affect anything else though.
Make sure the power cord is in snugly, I know that some power supplies are touchy with the power cord, and needs to be in all the way, or it's a cheap one, and needs to be angled due to bad assembly.
Double check all power connectors inside the computer as well, something may have been knocked loose or left unplugged after dusting.
Mine is occasionally fussy about turning on and i have to remove the power lead, wait twenty seconds and reconnect it and it turns on. And do as Homer said about checking for loose leads etc.
press power.if that don't work, THEN you may have done what my dad did to my mom's computer, a loose screw came loose and fell somwhere on the mother boardresault: F*R*I*E*D :burnum:hopefully thats not the case(most likly not, if you didn't smell burnt electronics!)you may have knoched some cables loose in your computer, if you can't resolve any probloms yourself, take your comp into a repair shop. expesive, but most repair guys can be trusted to not make it worst.
I replugged everything from the inside and out but nothing is working. No loose leads anywhere. No burning smell inside my computer yesterday. Its still stuck in power save mode yet no power.
Sorry for the double post, but does anyone know how much it cost to buy a new power supply box for the computer?
A decent one with run you anywhere from $50-$80.
So it's stuck in powersave mode? So it's atleast running at a low level?
I fear you might have cause a static reaction.
