Sometimes I can't get my computer to power down or reboot no matter what I do. I've even tried forcing a shutdown through the command prompt, but to no avail. Eventually, the only choice I'm left with is to hold the power button. What could be causing this?

You probably have processes in the background that are refuseing to quit. Possibly viruses or spyware, or just something messed up. I would tell you to do your scans, a registry sweep, and to see check your processess and see if anything is taking up a suspicous amount of cpu or memory usage. If there is something, type it into google and find out what it is. If none of this works for you, reinstall?

The problem is going to be something thats running on the computer. I would look at which tasks are running and see if killing them solves it.

Also look to see if there is anything running in the taskbar that might cause it to hang. This could also be caused by a hardware driver not shutting down.
