First of all I want to say thanks to all the people that have helped me in the past as I am no true techie by any means. Next, I would like to express my anger at Vista with company software added to it, Compaq to be precise. Anyway, my problem is... I am having trouble getting on the internet wirelessly. The wireless card connects to the router perfectly. For whatever reason the internet is not coming through. I have made sure the LAN settings were good to go, I have tried releasing the ip address through command promp as well but I get "the requested operation requires elevation." The user is an administrator too so, honestly I really dont know. I can't even think of anything else that would be causing it not to connect, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks a million.
I don't know whether this could be your problem, but when I was helping a friend setup a wireless connection once after repeated tries to get it encrypted and connected, I asked if the modem possibly needed a firmware flash. Well sure enough it did. When we updated it, suddenly a light appeared on the front of the modem and we were good to go. Just make sure if you get it running you encrypt it for security.
Umm, dont think that is the problem. The customer has tried to connect at his home network too, and we get the same problems there. But thanks anyway.
