I think there was something about the conroe performance boost being based on fake benchmarks or a skewed scale or something like that, I will try and find the link.

Just when I was coming to the conclusion I would have to go to AMD, Intel finally comes back with some great new technology, rock on Intel. Btw, stop trying to BS and say that the benchmarks are rigged just because you're mad that Intel made something better than your computer for cheaper.

Yes, that does put it into perspective a bit. :)

I'm sure I'll be fine with my current setup for maybe a couple years. I may soon buy another 7900gt, volt mod it like the one I have now and go SLI. That would make more of a "real world" difference for me than a new cpu anyways.

ORRRR, put your coin aside and get the very best dx10 card that comes out. :naughty: Your rig is solid dude, let the games catch up. :)

I intend to do that regardless of whether or not I buy another card now.

No big deal on the money for another 7900gt. I plan to build a rig for my mother and one for my daughter in the next year, and then I'll already have a 7900gt to put in each of their rigs, which should be more graphical power than they'll ever need. ;)

On a side note, the Conroes go up for sale on Friday, I believe. I may throw one in my mother's build. I was already thinking of a 3800+ dual core for her, so the Intel e6600 is about the same price I was planning for.

From what limited benchmarks i've seen, the E6300 performance seems to equal or slightly beat a Athlon X2 4400+.
