G'day guys considering new build some where towards November, I havn't really been to tuned in on all the happening in computer hardware of late.

I would like to build a i7 rig for gaming, 3Ds Max, and basically the Adobe suite. My budget will be around $2000 AUD give or take, as I'm in Australia.

I would like it to have a fair bit more go then my current rig (see sig)

These are some parts i have looked at so far

case - CoolerMaster HAF 922 RED Limited Edition

cpu - Intel Core i7 930

cooler - Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU Cooler or H70

os hdd - G.Skill Phoenix PRO 120GB SSD

mobo - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard Rev2

Ram - Corsair CMT6GX3M3A1600C7 6GB Kit Dominator GT

GPU - nvidia - EVGA GeForce GTX 470 1280MB, Palit GeForce GTX 470 1280MB Dual Fan Edition / ATI - Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD5870 1GB Ultra Durable

PSU - Just use my current psu (see sig)

I'm open for changes of any of these and probably will by November, The most part I'm unsure about is Graphics cards i don't know whether ati or nvidia are leading the market at the moment, so help in that field would be good.

Sorry for the long post but any help, advice, suggestions about parts or new hardware to arrive in the near future would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Your build sounds very much like my new rig I just put together(i7 930, 6g ddr3 1600, x58 mobo, & gtx470, HAF 932). I am completely satisfied & impressed by my pc & I see nothing on your build that needs improving. Well, maybe the h50/70...There are far better air cooling hs/fans that are better & less expensive than the Hydro series. but it all boils down to preference.

That looks like a pretty solid build to me. For the graphics card i would definitely go with a 470 or 480 if you can, or the new 475 that should be coming if its out by then. How much are you planning on running from the SSD? If its just for the OS itself i might consider getting a smaller one and putting that money towards a 480.

For the cooler i would recommend the Venomous X. I have one on my i7 860 and its keeping it nice and cool at 3.8Ghz.

I had only just seen the Corsair didn't know they made compact all in one units, thought it was fairly cool, ill have a look what else is out there.

For the cooler i would recommend the Venomous X.

Planning on running os and a few selected programs so i thought 120 would be a good size, ill check out prices on 80gb and see if there's good prices and yes good idea putting saved money towards 480

Ill also go take a gander at the Venomous X, would you recommend water cooling over air or air over water?

Oh, by no means do I think you should not get the h50. Heck, they even have the h70(bigger rad, dual fans). Both very competent coolers. Just pricey for me. You can get a Thermalright or Megahelam for 20-30 dollars cheaper & they cool better. Also, I would get a 60 gig ssd & a 1TB hdd for everything else.
