Hey all, well, I know that you would question the legality of my thread, but the law states that copying and then distributing the material is illegal, distribution is not my intent, only back up. So, anyone know how I can achieve this feat? Any help would be very much appreciated.

I don't know about Minnesota, but here in Georgia it is illegal. Well, it is illegal to circumvent protection technologies.
Those "SecuROM", and "SafeDisc" technologies, etc. Well, you cannot copy the disc, without circumventing those technologies. So it is illegal to make a legal backup of the software in Georgia.
Plus the courts seemed to have been convinced that the "Backup" is the installed copy on the hard drive... When you install it, you've just created your legal backup... That sucks.

"Fair use". It is legal to copy something for your own use, but it's illegal to bypass the technology that prevents it.
Maximum PC (magazine) listed some programs that can do this though. Search around.
