El_DestructoA dedicated server is another pc set up to run the game as only a server, without the game actually running as a player. A listen server is a pc running as a server but also with someone playing on that pc. A dedicated server is always better, just not always convenient, eg if you only have 2 pc's and you wanna play wit h a friend. Lan cafe's and the like will always have dedicated's running because they are much faster and more stable. Most online servers are dedicated. Oh BTW... he meant "some time" as in "one day try it out", not sometimes do and sometimes don't
Ok, first; when hosting a lan in my home for example its wise being non-dedicated -"listen-server" while playing myself? Second; when hosting on the internet its more steady to be dedicated server while playing? And third; what makes a dedicated server faster and more stable than a "listen server" -non-dedicated?
And third; what makes a dedicated server faster and more stable than a "listen server" -non-dedicated?
Well its pretty obvious. With using a dedicated server you do not have your CPU cycles eaten up by fancy graphics, sound, etc etc Also there is less chance of it crashing as often crashes are caused by the graphics or sound messing up.
I just have to say those fixes are very general and does not leave very much room for error searching.
