Of these two Vid cards, which is better, 1 nvidia 7800GTX or for $50 more(Cdn) Two Dual SLI nvidia 6800's. Which would be more effective in gaming. And Also, How well would this CPU preform in gaming(With one of those vid cards): P4 640 HT 3.2 800 FSB. Thanks, Bartender

Your processor will handle both of them fine.

Benchmarks have shown that 2 6800GT's will give you more FPS in most games than the 7800GTX. But I would recomend getting a single 7800GTX because the 2 6800GT's will give off A LOT of heat, will eat up A LOT of power, and you need 2 PCI-Express slots when the 7800GTX only needs 1 PCI-Express slot. Plus the 7800GTX is pretty dang powerful.

^ :nodding: yep, get a 7800GTX, wait a couple years, save more money, and buy another one. SLi baby! :D 7800GTX also has new technology too.

More often than not, a single 7800GTX will outperform two 6800 Ultras in SLI. You do the math.

Get the 7800GTX as others have said but get a ASUS one, they are the best ;)

The 7800gtx benchmarks better than two 6800s and the heat factory is high....take in effect that only the 7800and the x1800 will do shader 3.0 which is what makes games more dynamic. besides benchmarks are always done on computers that are about 6,000. Like the best of everything. so for the everyday end user. Youd see about a 10-20 fps gain over the 6800 but you will also have shader 3.0 which is the most important thing.

NV40 supported shader model 3.0, though G70 is still the better choice.
