Hey all. Simple quick question(s). Say for instance im running a game. I ctrl + alt + del and bring up task manager. Click processes tab, right click "Farcry.exe" (Or whatever) and set priority to high, so that most of the CPU usage is running on farcry. It warns you that this may damage your system. Should I do it? What is there to be cautios about? How can I damage my system?

i dont know like, but id say maybe because your CPU *could* overheat or conk out if u are trying to OC it... but im no expert on CPU an stuff coz i only have a 1.7ghz comp, so no matter what, my CPU usage is near 40% and a lot of the time its 100%

Yeah, I doubt it would do damage unless you are OCing it. I have trouble running most games satisfactorily, and Thx2u now I can try something I hadn't thought of before.

BTW what cpu do you have?

I got a Celeron 2.6-D and it runs partway between average and hot (40-55 deg C), the damage zone on most cpus is between 60 and 70 I think.

It causes temporarily unstability as it is rearranging the priorities of the running applications list. Dont worry about it, Its really a windows type of message, its only there because they have to cover all bases.

Ok. So say for example Glassius I was playing... Farcry. And I minimised, brought up the panel and set the priority to high, would this...

(A) Be ok? Well, you already answered that really. (B) Boost performance, CPU wise?

Im not sure how much it would affect your performance, probably very little too nothing. Windows is by default set to handle applications higher than background services. When running FarCry it is allready favored above anything else.

if somebody is at home, and tries it, let us know if there is any difference in lag, framerate, etc... i'm always looking for little tweaks and such that'll let me squeeze a little more performance outta my system, and like destructo, thats not something i've thought of before!

I think it's just there so that some not job cant sue microsoft for "not warning them" and damaging his PC.

ignore it.

OK, but who will volunteer to tackle such a task?, not me for sure!!!:naughty:, My computer is as F***ed up as it can be!!! Althought I don't think it will give much of a performance increase, otherwise someone would have said it before (including magazines). :deal:
