Sigh, yet another problem with the wonderfully awesome Windows 7, I'm considering switching back to Vista.

Whenever I exit a game, my CPU Usage remains at 100%, so I need to restart my computer to get it back to normal. And with games like Fallout 3 that crash every 5 to 10 minutes for unexplained reasons other than horrible programming, this is very annoying. This is why I prefer consoles, sure, sometimes the graphics aren't as pretty, but I know nothing stupid will happen.

What processor are you using? And does the task still come up in task manager?

I am using an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83Ghz. The processor has not failed me before. And no, the task does not appear in either applications or processes in the task manager.

Just do a format. If you have so many issues, obviously there's a problem somewhere.

My thoughts:

Overheating problem

Download HWMonitor (Google), and leave it running in-game. When you're done, take a screenshot (Alt-Print Screen), and post it here.

This is the screenshot I took in game with HWMonitor. I wasn't actually playing in game, I was just sitting in the main menu while I waited for this to finish downloading. Even with the game running, my CPU only went up to 22%, I'll do another screenshot while actually playing next time. Here it is: CPU100Problem.png picture by Schofield14 - Photobucket

Edit: Ok this is the screenshot I took once the I walked around for a few minutes. I also added in the task manager to show how it says 100%. I should also note, that if I go back into Fallout 3 (the game I tested this in), it acts completely fine, as if it isn't at 100% usage. What motherboard is that? it looks like all your other cpu-cores are disabled.

Open up cpu-z and see what it says.

LOL, didn't even catch that... he's running a 790i FTW.

Check your motherboard manual. It should tell you where to go in your BIOS to check if all your CPU cores are enabled - and how to enable them if they're not.
