It's not an exhaustive list. And it doesn't include Xeons or Opterons.

No, he means, why spam with just a general list of CPUs? Is it just for reference or something else?

Demtri;5411400I only listed... the Maximum pc mag...(
Ummm, To quote Count,...
wtf is that list for?

As Pedantic mentioned, it is not an exhaustive list, and leaves out a LOT of processors. It doesn't even list the Core 2 Duo E7xxx series processors, and I'm using an E7500, and would like to know where it stands.

Nor did it mention the Intel "Pentium Dual Core" processors, just the "Pentium D" processors. "Pentium Dual Core" CPUs are based on the Intel Core processor, and their model #s usually start with a T. "Pentium D" CPUs are dual core "Pentium 4s", and are less efficient (I don't think they support Hyper Threading).

Besides the Xeon, and Opteron processors Pedantic mentioned, there are the Intel Itanium,Intel Atom processors, and AMD V series CPUs. The Atom and V series processors are designed to reduce energy costs, and allow for smaller computers. Some are even being used in servers.

Then there are the Via Processors, such as the C7, the Nano, the Eden, and a few others.

Not to mention IBM's Cell processors in the Playstation 3, X-Box 360, and Nintendo Wii systems.

Given today's highly mobile platform, I think the various ARM chips should also be categorized. It looks like ARM and x86 are competing for survival. Intel is trying to get x86 chips into phones, but the widespread use of ARM in tablets may mean it will be used for future generations of Desktop PCs.

Intel Xeon Intel Itanium Intel Atom AMD V series Via C7 series Via C3 series Via Nano series Via Eden series Via PV530 series IBM Cell architecture the ARM architecture
