Every once in a while, my monitor screen developes horizontal moving lines, in which the screen is slightly "odd" - not in the same position it would be without those lines. They move up and down, and I can hear a slight buzzing sound. Is this a sign of the monitor's age? It's a 8-year old, Gateway2000 CrystalScan CRT monitor. The last two times it happened, the cell phone began to ring. Do you think these could be interconnected? Thanks for your help.

lol, thats a coincidence and as for the monitor problem i had the same thing... but them i got a new tft monitor wooooo!!! Anyway what i did 2 fix it is the connection at the back kept on going loose and did what u mentioned every so often so my advise is make sure the lead is connected to the Monitor proply ;)

Well, I was just called and the same thing happened. Our cell phones must emit something that causes my monitor to flicker. A few seconds before it starts ringing, the monitor acts up. If the phone is held close to the screen, it begins messing up again, but when it's taken away the screen returns to normal. Weird, huh?

Not too weird. I have had that happen to me. I think its cool, to get a warning, before the phone rings.
