I have a cheap Logitech Click! Optical mouse for my pc at work. a lot of times when I take my hand of the mouse the cursor starts to "wiggle". It's kind of annoying but nothing I can't live with. Does anyone know what might cause this? Is the mouse going bad (3 years old)?

The mouse might be a little old and damaged thats causing the strange movement of the mouse. I never trusted those optical mouses, never worked for me.

do you have a fan on your desk? If your saying it only wiggles when you take your hand of, it is NOT because it's damaged. You just have your DPI cranked all the way up and have a fan running or something. But if it's damamged you should still see the "shakes" with or without your hand on it. what kind of desk?

No fan. I do have my pc on the desk but there is much vibration generated. It doesn't always do it, it also does it when I have my hand on it and i'm not moving it. It's a counter top type desktop and I have a smooth mouse pad. I don't know if I can adjust my DPI or not.

My comp at work does that sometimes too, and my comp is on the floor. I also have a Logitech mouse, dunno what model though, just says "Logitech" and the model number (M-SBF90) and some other numbers. AHHHH, it's doing it now... Ok, it stopped, the mouse doesn't seem to be physically moving either. No idea how old mine is, I started working here in June.

Maybe the mouse gets stressed out at work too.

It's wiggin out, we percieve it as wiggling, but oh no... it's wigging.

Ask for a new one and mention carpal tunnel and they will HAVE to replace it. I have a G7 at my work. Every other cube has a high end KB in it. I'm deep in the land of "tech envy".

My HP mouse does something a little like that every so often, when i don't move it for awhile sometimes the cursor just starts slowly going off the one side of the screen, don't know what causes it though.
