Two links : 1) NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT & 2) GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 6-Way Shootout review. NVidia said that they gonna release the mainstream series of GeForce 9 & then go to release of performance (D9P) & enthusiast (D9E). So now i see they actually meant it. :) Say what u think, say if u like/liked that info & say if this helps u to decide wether to buy the current 8 series (8800 GT/GTX, etc...) or wait for these performance/enthusiast 9 series. Hopefully, the Desktop 9 Enthusiast will be what i hope it will be : the 1GB GDDR4 VRAM, 512-bit, DX10.1/OGL3.0, PCIe 2.0, etc.. monstrosity of GPU !!! And til then just say what u think bout this mainstream 9 series.

No the 9600 GT is slighlty faster then the 8800 GS and it also beats out the ATI HD 3870.

Ah, OK. Anyone know how much power a 9600/8800GS eats?

The 9600 GT uses around 170 watts during gaming and 100 watts when ideling at windows. The 8800 GS uses as much power as the 9600.

Meh, i was expecting a little more. Its a nice card and all, but i was thinking it would be a little faster. It looks to be only about 5-10fps (on average) faster than a 3870 in some games, and slower than the 3850 in others. At least its not going to be another crappy 8600-like line.

I'll be waiting for the high end cards before i consider upgrading.

I think the mid range nvidia cards are starting to shape up really nice again like they used to be with the 7600/6600's.
