My pc has 1 GB of RAM, however my uncle kindly gave me another 1GB stick, for no reason what so ever so I out it in (as you do) and it booted up but after a few weeks it got to screen where windows boots up and shuts itself down immediately. I've done every virus scan under the sun ( several times ) and cleaned up my PC, however it contiues to carry on until I remove the RAM, in which then it runs perfectly fine.

Any suggetons or just plain HELP!!

Does the new stick work by itself? if not then the RAM is probably buggered.

If it worked before he took it out then it'll be compatible.

Sounds like a duff stick to me.

If both work on there own, try putting the second stick in the 3rd slot on the motherboard as opposed to (assumingly) the 2nd slot. They may be trying to work in dual channel but not quite making it which causes crashes. Just try them in slots 1 and 3 respectively and see if that helps m8.
