A friend of mine sent me this, what should he do? >OK, here is today's problem.
I don't know if you got to see it at the star's club meeting, but I have this xrite.com model 938 spectrophotometer. I called the factory and they told me the key code to get it out of the loop and it works fine now. and what it what it does, is take a sample reading , then transmits 62 lines of data , some lines blank and all lines contain alpha and numeric data. It comes out as rs232, set at 9600, 8,n,1 I put it into a keyspan rs232 to usb adaptor and plug it into my notebook. it shows up on COM5:
I need to take all the data, add the date and time to it along with a fixed reference number (scanner serial number) and than a record number to IDing each set of data and then store it.
I then need to be able to get to the data by ID number.
How would you do it? I am thinking of Access, but I don't know how to write the code to suck in the serial data. I am also trying wedge software.
