Okay, I'm in the market for a new graphics card.

My machine looks like this:

AMD AthlonXP 2400+ One of the newer Via chipset boards by MSI, don't remember which one ~770 Mb RAM Win2K and... a GeForce2 MX-440 graphics card :uhm:

As you can see, I have a decent rig save for the video card.

Anyway, I found two cards locally for roughly the same price, and I need to know which'll give me better performance:

PNY GeForce FX 5200 128Mb or BFG Technologies Asylum GeForce MX 4000 128MB

I don't know enough about the subtle variations in the GeForce line, or even about graphics cards in general, to tell which is better.

So, if it were down to just those two cards, which should I coose, and why?

Call me cheap, but I can't warrant spending more than $60-70 on a vid-card. Those two are the cheapest 128Mb cards in the area, and witht the rebates, the'yre even cheaper than buying them online.

Is there any reason besides the higher numbers for getting the 5200? I know that Nvidia has been kinda screwy with their nuimber system in the past...

uhm, your link just sendsz me to a page with this error message:

[quote=error]Warning: main(article.html?art=NjQ0LDI): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/ramdisk/article.html on line 3

Warning: main(): Failed opening 'article.html?art=NjQ0LDI' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/local/ramdisk/article.html on line 3

Probably because you added a www2 in front.

Just for the record, I don't give a rip about D3. But, the articles would probly be nice to read...

Thx anyway...

I would go with FX out of the two. I had good experinces with that series. You might want to look for a good deal for that card you might be able to buy it cheaper. And yes doom 3 does support the FX series look at doom 3 forums or even IDs site for details. ill be sure to post some parts of reviews here next time I post.
