Does anyone know how to or what to use to decompile an EXE made with Visual C++ 6.0?
I'm not trying to hack into anything and steal source code, but I'm trying to break an installer to get the "good" files (things actually relevant to why I downloaded the installer) without the "bad" files (spyware, adware, viruses, CLICK ME NOW AND GET A FREE IPOD!!!!!!!! popups, etc.)
I've tried using UniExtract 1.5 to open it, but that came back with the message that the installer couldn't be opened because it was in "Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 [Debug]."
So, how do I go about fixing that? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I very much doubt that what you want to do is legal. Decompiling the EXE aside, programs like that normally have a condition in the EULA that prevents you from using it without the bundled 'extras'.

I'd prefer to delete it.
But I won't, because it's worth pointing out that what your asking for isn't entirely kosher.
So don't do it again.
