Where do you think those companies get the chips they use in their RAM? Besides, you can't form an opintion about Dell PC's based on the manufacturer of their RAM. If the benchmarks don't show it, why does it matter? And how do you know that your XPS's don't use high-end RAM? Have you opened up the computer, read the serial number on the RAM chips, searched it on Samsung's website and read the specs? Just because it doesn't have a flashy platinum heatspreader on it doesn't mean its not high-class stuff.
I have a dell laptop, and it runs great. Its fast and reliable. Dell desktops might be a rip off, but they have some of the best laptops out there. In benchmarks and games they can be faster than alienwares because of their centrino processors. Dell definately is not as bad as people make it out to be.
RemanWarbirdOne thing i don't understand, why do so many people think that if you want to upgrade your dell, you have to go out and buy dell parts?
That is a bunch of crap. The newer Dell computers are VERY upgradable and do not use propietory parts. I installed an Antec 450 Watt power supply in my Demension 2350 because Dell replaced the stock one twice for free, but I wanted to get something better for it.
The one they advertise for $399.00 is a Dimension 2400. That PC can be upgraded to become a competetive gaming system with a video card, RAM, and a better CPU if you desire.
