Like them or not, post your opinion.

Currently I only have the recycle bin and I save downloads to my desktop then move them and there a couple there at the moment...

I have 3 icons and two folders on my Vista desktop right now. Firefox, iTunes, Pidgin, a folder that i put all the other program icons in, and a folder that i put all my games icons in. I hate having icons all over the place, it just looks messy and unorganized.

I like icons, however not many. Once too many get on the desktop, they are no longer effecient to locate.

I generally keep just a couple of my most often used apps on my desktop, then hide the others.

On Linux this is even more true, as instead of going through the trouble to delete them, I have to actually add them to my desktop. So I rarely have any on there.

I'm still looking for a better method of being able to launch programs. The Vista Start Menu, and KDE's Baghira menu are painfully close. I love having a searchable menu.

I chop and change from time to time, sometimes I have heaps of them, but then some other times, I hide them and sometimes just have the minimal..

There are times i like having none. I don't actual delete them, i just uncheck the "show desktop icons" option and add the desktop toolbar to the start bar.

I don't do that, I just hide them, and then if there is something on there I want, I open the desktop via my computer.

Once I had the whole desktop filled with icons:

And I noticed a major performance drop, both while booting and just when I had other programs up. And refreshing the icons..wow..

Now I keep it alot simplier.

So basically I dont like them very much, and I used to have Stardock/rocketdock/objectdock, but I am going for performance now so..
