my vid card supports directX 8.1, when it was released, i d/led 9.0c; and after i reformatted, without thinking, i d/led it again...what i'm wondering is this: does directX affect the playability of games that much that i would be better off going back to 8.1?
Where is the internet?

Your card will not support the features of DX9c but you should be able to run the games, you will just not be able to run those features.
For instance I have a Ti4200-128MB in one of my systems and that is a DX8 card. I ran Doom 3 with DX9C installed with no problems at all.
And IIRC all versions of DX are backwards compatible. I still play games like SHOGO and ONI and I think they are DX7.
You should be able to install DX9C and have no problems with DX compatability.
okee dokee...thanx, i'll stop worrying about that and move onto other things thats messing up my gameplay. thanx to all who posted
