My disk drive isnt working. Each time I put in a CD and go to My Computer, and click on the drive, it says there is no disk in the drive. Ive scanned the computer ten times, and error check, and defragmented. Whats up?
what kind of disk is it, and how many different disk does this happen with.
First thing you need to do is boot your computer while holding down F8 and everything should be up there h-drives, floppy drives, ect. If your disk drive isnt up their then its not setup in your bios right. I doubt you could tell which is the disk drive you should be able to tell which are your hard drives though
Its the E drive, which is my CD-ROM drive.
Is the BIOS detecting the CD-ROM drive? Are you loading the appropriate driver? Check the IDE cable that connects to the CD-ROM .....Master or Slave?

:agreed What he said. Common cause of problems such as 'it won't switch on' -- it's not plugged in ;).
turn off comp... plug out IDE/sata cable, plug back in, restart... presto... happend to me... read that the cd drive was there but didnt read cd's
