yesterday i tried to re-install windows on my e-machines computer which has a 80gb 7200rpm HDD. When I install windows, my computer just gets rebooted. If I start windows normally, I keep getting an error saying "disk error, alt+ctrl+del to reboot". I have tried connecting it with a friend's computer, which is basically the same as mine, and tried connecting both hard drives, but when windows loaded up it just froze. any ideas on what the problem might be? thankx in advance.

Try reformatting it again, when you install it , dont do a quick format do the full one.

If the hard drive itself is faultly, you can set Spin Right to work on it:

It's a great hard drive diagnostic and recovery tool.
