I just got a new geforce FX 5700 256 mb DDR video card. The reviews for it say that some people played Doom 3 with medium settings. I can only go to medium settings with tribes vengeance sp demo, which has good graphics but not nearly as good as doom 3. I heard somewhere that LCD monitors arent that great for gaming, and i have a flat panel LCD. If I use a CRT monitor will i be able to play games on higher resolutions?

While LCD spares your eyes and keeps you from getting headaches, it can in most cases not project an image faster than 60hz@1200x1024, while your average CRT screen is capable of 85hz@1600x1200 (at minimum). In most cases the numbers are way higher.

most LCD's are limited to a Native Resolution of about 1200x1024, which as far as ingame settings go, is awkward. Generally Cathode Ray Tube is still the prefered for Gaming.

CRTs are better unless you buy the $4,000+ LCDs
